Celebrating one year with Cooper the Pooper

One year later

We adopted our dog Cooper about a year ago. A lot has changed for us since then (new apartment, new job, new furniture, a summer at doggy camp) but one thing remains the same. Bringing this big-eared, short-legged, little guy into our lives is one of the best decisions we have made. I talked about why I wanted a dog here and though at times neither of us wants to get out of bed to take him out, he has only made our lives better.

A day in the life of Cooper the Pooper

Generally speaking the Cooperonian calendar doesn't change, even on the weekends. He wakes up between 7:00 and 8:00 a.m. by scratching at the big crate that he sleeps in with his favorite blanket. Then he goes outside and has breakfast. The rest of the day entails sleeping, snuggling and chewing on his various toys and bones (especially Donald Duck, meet him here), interspersed with sucking on his blanket. I first introduced this weird trait here

This summer while we were back in the United States, Cooper stayed at doggy camp. He had a great time (because he is a creeper and is obsessed with other canines) and we are very happy to have found a safe place for him to stay when we are away for so long. Traveling with a dog overseas on an airplane is something I do not think is fair to the animal unless it is absolutely necessary.

What Cooper enjoys more than anything is being outside and off the leash. Since our apartment building is surrounded by a lot of vacant land, we are able to safely let him run his little heart out. Can you find him in this post?

Recently when we had some friends over from Jose's work, Cooper showed us that he is plays nicely with children (even kids who are obviously bugging him). Coops was very patient, letting this child tease him, chase him and gently took the food he was being offered. I was happy to see this since he can be kind of a jerk when it comes to his blanket especially.

Happy one year anniversary!

We do really enjoy having Cooper here with us, even if people laugh at his big ears sometimes. He is goofy, cuddly and an all around good guy. There are things we need to work on, like him not flipping out when he initially hears the doorbell but overall he is a nice little buddy. I have said this before, if you have the time and the energy, adopt a dog. It will make your life better!
