In the past month and a half we've advanced a lot in our renovation. The floors were installed in almost all of the rooms. The ceilings were all finished and our bathroom and kitchen are almost complete.
You may remember that when we bought the house there were two small bathrooms which we decided to convert into one larger bathroom, using some of the space to expand the kitchen a bit. We opted for a shower stall instead of a bathtub and had our builders construct a narrow closet in the remaining space along the back wall. We had enough room for a double sink as well. I'm still happy with our tile choice (it's fake marble with brownish-gold veining rather than the typical grey. We've opted for black accents throughout (faucets/shower stall etc) and although things aren't finished yet, I like the way it's coming together.
In the kitchen we decided on white cabinetry and will have a white countertop installed. Since the space is still pretty small and the floor is on the darker side, we wanted the rest of the kitchen to be light. The walls are going to be tiled this week and when the counter is installed we will be done (except for the exhaust fan and open shelves which our builder is going to make for us).
Over the next few weeks the rest of the floors and walls will be finished off and Jose and I will keep painting (we've already started the back bedrooms). Unfortunately there is a transport strike going on right now in Spain which is holding up our sliding glass door which will go in the living room as well as some other items we will need to finish.
We also celebrated the girls' 6th birthday this past month. I would have liked to have been in our new place by now but definitely by Carla's birthday this summer we will be moved in. I don't like to think about timelines since it stresses me out but that gives us months still. We'll be living there by then, right?
